Before we begin the
process, a window fan is brought in to extract all
unpleasant odors from the home during the process.
Next, we remove the tub hardware. The tub is then
degreased and coated with a solution of hydrofluoric
acid to etch the surface. The etching creates a rougher
surface that helps make a better bond between the tub
and coating. The tub is then sanded out to remove
residue. Chips and scratches are sanded out and filled
with a waterproof polyester body filler.
 |
|
The bathroom's walls and floor is
masked off to protect them during the application of the
coating. First a coating of acid based primer is
applied. The primer will attack the existing porcelain
surface making a better bond.
 |
|
Then, 5 coats of synthetic Porcelaincote®
are applied. Porcelaincote is 80% as hard as porcelain
and passes all standard tests for porcelain.
Porcelaincote is a patented product, offered only by
authorized Perma-Ceram dealers. All of our personnel
are factory trained. A heat lamp treatment is used to
shorten the drying time. The resurfaced tub will be
completely cured and ready for use the next day.

Here is the finished product. To
retain the good looks, the owners should avoid abrasive
cleansers and should clean with a liquid cleaner. See
how new your bathtub will look!

Example #2 |

Here is an example of a tub with a
stain being resurfaced.
 |
|
The process is the same. All nicks
and chips have been filled in with body filler and
sanded smooth.
 |
|
Then the new coating is applied.
Wow! Looks great! Thanks Coast Bath!

Example #3 |
