How much will I save with Resurfacing vs. Replacement?

Resurfacing is the way to go if you DO NOT want to remodel your entire bathroom. It can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars over replacement. A brand new bathtub may only cost as little as $200 or $300, but there are hidden costs such as removal and disposal, plumbing alterations, and tile work, not to mention the dust, dirt and length of time a remodel takes. These costs add up and you can easily end up spending $5,000 or more to replace your bathtub and/or tile.

How long does the bathtub Resurfacing process take?
Our resurfacing process typically takes 2 hours to complete. Under normal circumstances, you can use the bathtub within 48 hours.

Can I use the bathtub before you arrive?
Yes. The tub does not need to be dry when we arrive. You can use it right up to the minute before we get there.

Can you Resurface Fiberglass, Acrylic, Cast Iron and Porcelain Tubs?  What about Tile Floors and Walls?
We can resurface all types of tubs and shower pans.  We resurface tile walls ONLY, no floors.

Do you repair cracks, chips, and scratches in my bathtub?
We will fill in any chips or other minor imperfections in your bathtub prior to the resurfacing process; for more serious damage an additional charge may be imposed.  In many cases we can repair chips, cracks, scratches & holes in your tub without needing to resurface your entire tub – this can cost significantly less than a full tub resurface.

Can I change the color?
Yes. We can change the color of your tub through the resurfacing process – any color.  We can even match the color of your existing tub for repairs.

Is there an odor while the work is being done?
We come equipped with a full ventilation system to extract odors that occur with our process. You may notice a slight odor after we are finished and this typically is gone within a few hours.

Is the new finish the same as the original finish?
No. To duplicate a porcelain finish the product would need to be heated at 2,500 degrees which is not practical. Our materials are synthetic, which when applied hardens to a beautiful high gloss porcelain-like finish. Our materials are not epoxy-based; they are developed specifically for bathtubs.

How durable is the finish?
The new surface is durable (10+ years with good care). We use high quality low VOC (volatile organic compounds) and environmentally safe glaze urethane coatings, a lower odor than other refinishing products on the market, is sprayed on using a HVLP turbine and spray gun, designed specifically for refinishing porcelain, ceramic tile, acrylic and fiberglass, which makes our finish very durable and will not crack or fade over time.

Is this the same material that I can buy in a home improvement store?
No. Our materials are not epoxy-based. They are a specially formulated series of coatings that are all designed specifically for bathtubs.

Are your coatings safe?
Yes. They do have some odors, but remember we do ventilate the room to help get rid of fumes. Please note: if you are pregnant or have small animals or birds in your home, please consider making arrangements to be out of the house for a while.

Do you offer Non-Slip Surface Options?
No. We DO NOT offer non-slip coatings. If safety is a concern, we recommend applying appliques to the floor of your tub as these can easily be removed using a hair dryer and replaced over and over as needed.  DO NOT use suctioned cup mats of any kind!

Do you change any of the plumbing fixtures?
No. Plumbing problems (leaks, broken fixtures, etc.) must be resolved before the tub is resurfaced. The material needs to stay dry for at least 24 hours to cure properly.

Do you grout/caulk around the tub when you are finished?
No. We do not provide any type of grouting or caulking services. Please wait at least 24 hours after the resurface to do any caulking or installing of shower doors. Any grout work should be done prior to your resurface.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. We offer the same as you typically get with a brand new tub, which is 1 year.  But, remember resurfacing typically lasts 10+ years and can always be stripped and resurfaced again and again.

Accepted Payment Methods
Payments are due upon completion of work. We accept CASH and CHECKS only. ($30.00 CHARGE ON ALL RETURNED CHECKS) Please be on hand to inspect the work and take care of payment.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment?
We typically book a week or two out. *Some Saturday appointments available (*not available in all locations).

I’m remodeling right now, should I resurface my tub and/or tile before or after?
You should wait until you have completed all your construction in or around your bath tub before you resurface. Make sure to remove shower doors completely, including tracks before the technician arrives. When doing construction work around the bath tub, do not put any caulking around the tub.

How do I care for my new resurfaced tub?
The surface will only require light cleanings with a mild cleanser such as Dow Scrubbing Bubbles, Fantastik, 409 or Simple Green. No scrubbing or scouring will be needed and please DO NOT use bleach.  See our Cleaning & Care page for more details…
